About

Andrew VerdinTenor

Andrew is a Greenville SC native who has made his home in Laurens County with his wife Rebekah and his three daughters: Baylis, Harris, and Louisa.   Between a very active home life on the farm in Laurens, the typical demands of school activities in Greenville, and a busy veterinary practice in Simpsonville, Andrew and Rebekah find themselves on the go all of the time.  Music appreciation and participation in church, family and civic vocal ensembles have always been a part of Verdin family life. Andrew currently enjoys singing with his church family and with his friends in Kingdom Come.

Tom Morrison, Baritone / Bass

Tom has over sixty years of singing experience, starting in church choir as an alto.  He has sung with many groups: Michigan State Singing Statesmen, Austin Choral Union, Austin Lyric Opera, San Gabriel Chorale (TX), Conspirare, Fountain Inn Chorale, and several church choirs.  He was a student of Covent Garden resident baritone Jess Walters.  Tom also was mentored in choral conducting by Dr Robert Harris. Tom is retired after a 50 year career in the computer software industry.  Tom and his wife, Denise, have four children and nine grandchildren.  They moved from Texas to the Upstate four years ago.

Danny Verdin, Bass

Danny was raised in Upstate South Carolina and attended Bob Jones University.  There he met his future wife, Kim Owens and together they have been blessed with four wonderful and happily married children. They will soon enjoy the blessing of their 6th grandchild.  Vocationally, Danny and Kim have owned and operated Verdin’s Farm and Garden Center in Laurens for 32 years and more recently “Verdin’s Too” near the town square.  A heart for public service, he has represented District 9 (Greenville and Laurens) for 21 years in the South Carolina Senate.

Growing up in a multi-faceted and multi-generational musical family, Danny enjoyed the opportunity to take voice, piano and French horn from grade school through college. His love of music has allowed him to be part of Church Music ministry, community chorale and now with the men’s vocal ensemble, “Kingdom Come”

Craig Thomson, Baritone

A fan of progressive rock, a capella vocal music and British beers, Craig has enjoyed performing with school madrigal groups, community chorales, large church choirs, and small ensembles. He and his wife, Mary, have 4 children, all graduates of or students at Anderson University (SC). After decades of visiting from his native Illinois, Craig and his family made South Carolina their home in 2008—but remain long-suffering Chicago Bears supporters.

Mark Simpson, Tenor II and Director

A veteran of the aluminum smelting industry for more than 50 years, Mark has always found time for one of his favorite passions – “Music”.  He began singing in children’s church choirs at a very young age and later in junior high school transitioned into band where he learned to play the “tuba”.   He met his wife, Donna (Davis) Simpson during their freshmen year at Bob Jones University where they married in 1974.  Mark continues to enjoy sharing music in his church choir and now in the newly formed men’s vocal ensemble, “Kingdom Come”.  Music is an expression of praise and worship to God. “Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.” Psalm 98:4

Donna Simpson, Accompanist

Donna Davis Simpson was born in Loves Park, Illinois where she graduated from Harlem High School.  She sang in several choirs and was the accompanist for the Festival Choir.  Donna’s family helped establish a new church in Loves Park where she was the pianist at age 12.  After graduation, she traveled to South Carolina to attend Bob Jones University where she graduated with a degree in Music Education.  She met and married Mark Simpson who was also a student at the school.  They have been involved in music ministry together throughout their years of marriage.  Donna and Mark have two adult children and five grandchildren.
